He began his interest in computer programming at the young age of 9 and eventually found himself studying Computer & Information Science at the University of Oregon. He left U of O in the Fall of 2000 to work with Rumblefish Records as CTO. He then returned to U of O to work with the university's Computing Center on a number of initiatives, at which point he succumbed to his entrepreneurial passions and founded SingleMind Consulting...

Dirk started his ascent into the world of computer programming in 1996, when he started at the University of Oregon's Computer and Information Science program.  While working for his bachelor's degree, he worked for IMS doing PHP and MySQL/mSQL development and the UO Social Science Instructional Lab as a technical consultant.  Upon getting his B.S. in 1999, he went on to get his M.S., going to school part-time and working full-time.  During this period, he worked for the UO Computing Center as a systems analyst, working with Oracle/SCT Banner and assisting UO sysadmins in setup of LVS-clustered 9iAS machines.  Upon getting his M.S., he went to work for Lunar Logic, the developers of iLrn/ThomsonNOW.

A fan of computers since the the day his family got a Commodore 64, he studied Computer Science at the University of Oregon. He worked as a system administrator and software developer for the University's Social Science Instructional Labs.  His primary responsibility was architecting and maintaining internet-based courseware for online classes.
